Students in the Department of Biblical & Theological Studies can practice their knowledge by participating in scholarship activities and be recognized for their accomplishments in language study.

Those who qualify will be inducted into our local chapter of Theta Alpha Kappa, the national honor society for religion and theological studies.

Others choose to study abroad in Israel and gain a deeper understanding of the biblical world while earning transfer credits towards their major.

Undergraduate Theology Conference

Every year Northwestern students participate in the Undergraduate Theology Conference sponsored by Northwestern, Bethel University, Crown College, and North Central University. A total of 16 students from the four schools present papers to their peers. The conference concludes with a banquet and keynote speaker. Northwestern is hosting this free event on April 12, 2018. Our keynote speaker is Dr. Walter Schultz.

MOTB Greek Paul Project

Biblical & Theological Studies majors are using their Greek language skills for the Museum of the Bible (MOTB) Greek Paul Project. These students transcribe handwritten Greek minuscule manuscripts of the Pastoral Epistles (1–2 Timothy and Titus) and make an electronic record of the content.

In addition to the transcription project, two Northwestern students have been accepted to attend Logos in Oxford, a two-week workshop at Oxford University where they will learn from experts in textual studies.

Undergraduate Student Paper Contest: Midwest Evangelical Theological Society (ETS) regional conference

Every Spring our students are invited to submit papers for the undergraduate student paper contest at the Midwest Evangelical Theological Society (ETS) regional conference.
