Student Opportunities
World Languages
Northwestern encourages students to cross borders to impact the world. The Department of World Languages has a variety of opportunities for students to study abroad, participate in language clubs, view bilingual theater performances, and much more.
Study abroad
Spanish majors study abroad with programs like Semester in Spain in Seville or the Students International program in Costa Rica.
Any Northwestern student can study abroad through programs sponsored by the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities (CCCU).
Campus and co-curricular activities
Students have many opportunities on campus to use their language skills:
- Language & culture clubs for Arabic, Chinese, Russian, and Spanish
- Year-long Spanish Language Housing immersion
- Bible exposition courses taught in Spanish
- Visiting exhibits at The Museum of Russian Art
- Spanish Christmas caroling in the community
- Attending bilingual theater performances
- Study trips to Moscow, Russia
- Weekly English tutoring for Hispanic kids at a local church
- Free language tutoring available through Academic Achievement
