Amelia Hausker | University of Northwestern, St. Paul

Amelia Hausker

Amelia Hausker graduated from the University of Northwestern-St. Paul in May of 2020 with a Bachelor of Music Education in K-12 Instrumental and Classroom Music. During her time at Northwestern, she played viola in the UNW Orchestra, was a member of the UNW Orchestra Council, performed in multiple chamber ensembles, and studied viola privately with Dr. Stephanie Allen. She also worked as an Ensemble Tours Assistant for the UNW Music Department.

Amelia’s musical journey began when she started taking piano lessons at 5 years of age and she continued piano lessons all the way through high school. During that time, she had the opportunity to compete and perform in 5 MMTA Piano Contest performances.  In addition, during her first couple of years at Northwestern, she worked as a student piano accompanist for various UNW vocal students. She still plays piano today at church and for personal enjoyment.

Her passion for teaching strings ignited when she decided to learn a second instrument in 6th grade; the viola. She took private viola lessons all the way through middle, high school, and college, and in 2014-2015 and 2015-2016, Amelia played viola in the MMEA All-State Orchestra. In college, she participated in the UNW Orchestra as the Viola section leader for all four years of her degree. She continues to perform for various wedding and church gigs around the Twin Cities and plans to join a high-level community orchestra in the near future.

Amelia has taught viola and violin through the Academy of Music since 2018. She is passionate about forming meaningful relationships with each of her students, inspiring a lifelong love and appreciation of the gift of music, and equipping students with the tools they need to grow, both musically and as individuals."
