Dr. Gale Sewell was the first faculty member hired in May 2013. Prior to coming to Northwestern, Dr. Sewell held teaching positions as Assistant Professor at Indiana Wesleyan University and Kent State University. She has worked as a nurse at St. Joseph Riverside Hospital and St. Elizabeth Hospital in Ohio and both St. Joseph Hospital and St. Luke’s Episcopal Hospital in Houston, Texas.

 

Dr. Sewell was the Nurse Administrator at the Brethren in Christ Church, in Zimbabwe, Africa. She developed a 3-year General Nurse Program in a rural district hospital and was the Director of School of Nursing at the Tsholotsho district Hospital in Zimbabwe, Africa, the first provincial nursing program in Zimbabwe. Dr. Sewell has led multiple trips for the School of Nursing, taking nursing students to Africa.

 

Dr. Sewell makes her home in Arden Hills. She currently teaches courses in three of the four terms: Advanced Adult Care Services; Serving Transcultural Populations; Synthesis of Care Services and NCLEX-RN Preparation for Service.
