The number of positive tests documented include confirmed cases, either at UNW Health Services clinic or at another sanctioned testing site. The dashboard information will be updated on Tuesdays and Fridays each week.

The current resurgence alert level takes into consideration both external (surrounding community) and internal (UNW community) metrics. These metrics are continuously monitored to guide Northwestern’s response in an appropriate and timely manner.

Isolation separates sick people from people who are not sick. This number represents students who are experiencing COVID-like symptoms or have tested positive for COVID-19. This includes the number of newly confirmed positive student tests
Quarantine separates and restricts the movement of students who were exposed to COVID-19 in order to reduce further spread.
As a reminder, these numbers represent confirmed cases and those in quarantine or isolation for the past week. The number of students isolated/quarantined is the total for both those on/off campus for their isolation/quarantine period. Isolation and quarantine protocols should occur off-campus whenever possible.
University of Northwestern – St. Paul and Northwestern Media employ individuals in many different states. Due to Northwestern status as a multi-state employer, details regarding COVID-19 as it relates to employees (i.e. symptoms, exposure, testing, quarantine, isolation, contact tracing) are not published publicly. While all Northwestern employees are being monitored, the large number of employees who are either working outside of Minnesota and/or working remotely significantly reduce the chance of virus exposure to our on-campus community.
We encourage all members of the Northwestern community to care for another in this season by maintaining a minimum physical distance of six feet and wearing a face covering. If you are experiencing symptoms that may be related to COVID-19, please stay home or in your campus residence and report your illness immediately.
If you are tested for COVID-19 or told to isolate/quarantine, please call Health Services on the next business day or e-mail at any time to inform them of your situation.
