Music & Theatre event dates held in Knight Hall.

Duke Ellington played a key role in elevating jazz to an art form on the same level as other musical genres. Join us in celebrating choral music by Black composers through spirituals, gospel, concert music, including Ellington's "Come Sunday," a jazz harmony-infused piece taken from his symphony Black, Brown, and Beige that debuted at Carnegie Hall in January 1943. Featured guests include vocal artists/alumni Falicia Cunningham and Mason Henderson and retiring music faculty member Dr. Phil Norris, trumpet player and composer/arranger.
