About the Department
The Department of Biology and Biochemistry teaches students the foundational concepts and skills of the sciences through a Christian worldview. Students are trained to apply the scientific method, to analyze observations quantitatively and qualitatively, and to integrate knowledge between scientific disciplines. Biology and biochemistry have more influence in our society than ever before, so we approach education based on inquiry and critical thinking within the framework of a Christian worldview.
Students are prepared for careers in science and for a wide variety of professional schools, including graduate programs in biology, biochemistry, and health professions such as medicine, nursing, physician’s assistant, dentistry, chiropractics, pharmacology, and physical therapy.
Our students have a high acceptance rate at top universities when continuing their education, as well as immediate job placement in the biotech and biomedical industry. We also have established national and international collaborations for internships and employment, in places such as Central and South America, Africa, and select study abroad programs.
Students receive exceptional mentorship by our faculty who help them meet their individual career goals. Professors teach from their extensive experience as scientists in their fields. They inspire students to study biology with curiosity and critical thinking within the framework of a Christian worldview.
