School of Education


The School of Education exists to prepare educators for transformative service through Christ-centered programs. Students are equipped with the professional knowledge, skills, and dispositions to provide the teaching and God-honoring leadership that changes lives, within the diverse communities they serve.

About the School


Through its programs, the School of Education prepares caring and committed educational professionals equipped to serve within public, private, or global educational settings. Teacher education programs at Northwestern are approved by the MN Professional Educator Licensing and Standards Board and lead to a recommendation for licensure within the state of Minnesota.

Majors and Programs


The School of Education offers the following degree programs: Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, English as a Second Language (ESL) Education, Communication Arts/Literature Education, Mathematics Education, Social Studies Education, Music Education, Physical Education, Spanish Education, and Visual Arts Education. These degrees prepare you for the top graduate programs in education and careers in public and private school settings.
