Congratulations on your acceptance to University of Northwestern – St. Paul!

We’re hoping that your admitted student portal will serve as a guide for your next steps on your journey to Northwestern. There, you should be able to find answers to some of your key questions. If there is anything else we can help answer for you, don’t hesitate to give our Admissions Office a call at 651-631-5111.

Your admitted student portal will display your username and a password to login to myUNW, which will be your “home base” as a student. If you’ve misplaced your login credentials, or experience technical issues, you can get help by calling 651-631-5699 or sending an email to the service desk

Who can apply for parking permits?

Students who have 30+ college credits may have a car on campus. Incoming students will less than 30 credits living in university housing are not permitted to have a vehicle on Northwestern property. Appeals are available, but are only accepted for extreme circumstances.


When and where can I apply for a parking permit?

Parking permit registration typically opens mid-July for fall admits. Once application is open, you can apply.


If I qualify for a parking permit, what kinds are there and how much do they cost?

There are resident and commuter parking permits issued. If qualified and available, residents will receive permits specific to their residence hall, with limited access to other parking lots on campus 2 p.m.–1 a.m. Commuters are issued permits valid for specific lots on campus.

  • $185 per semester for resident parking (this includes residents of Akenson, Knutson, Knuha, Hartill, Moyer, and Ramseyer residence halls). 
  • $155 per semester for commuter parking. 
  • $50 per semester for motorcycle and scooter parking.
