School of Nursing Application Process

Take a step toward your goal of being an RN!

Admissions at UNW does not require two separate applications for the University and School of Nursing. Once a student has applied to UNW, they will not need to fill out a separate application for the School of Nursing. Students can apply to UNW by visiting their Admissions Portal. There are additional requirements for a student to start the nursing program, outlined below.

The Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) pre-licensure program is granted approval from the Minnesota Board of Nursing. Nursing Major candidates who have completed all program, credit, and degree requirements will be recommended for the candidate’s licensure (NCLEXRN®). The baccalaureate program at Northwestern is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education.

Are there any requirements I need to meet prior to registering and beginning the Term 1 nursing courses?

  1. Achieve a cumulative GPA of at least 2.75 on a 4.00 scale.
  2. Complete the TEAS Entrance exam with a score of 65% or higher.
  3. Successfully complete all prerequisite courses with a “C” or higher.
  4. Successfully complete all core curriculum courses.
  5. Submit all required immunizations, trainings, and certifications.
  6. Successfully pass both the National and State Background checks.

Additional details and further instructions will be provided through the Pre-Nursing Foundations Moodle site. Nursing students will gain access to the Moodle site within the first month of starting at UNW.
