A guide for students and parents

Congratulations! You've been admitted to Northwestern. Wondering what you need to do next? We want to make the transition easy for you and your family.

Congratulations on your acceptance to University of Northwestern – St. Paul!

We’re hoping that this page can serve as a guide for your next steps on your journey to Northwestern. Here you should be able to find answers to some of your key questions. If there is anything else we can help answer for you, don’t hesitate to give our Admissions Office a call at 651-631-5111.

Welcome to the UNW Community! You are about to embark on some of the best years of your life. Be prepared to grow spiritually, be challenged intellectually, and to cultivate rich friendships during your time here. We can’t wait for you to take advantage of all Northwestern has to offer.

Now that you’ve been admitted to Northwestern, you will receive a username and a password to login to your student portal, theROCK. Once you log in you will be able to complete the next steps (shown below). If you've misplaced your login credentials, or experience technical issues, you can get help by calling 651-631-5699 or sending an email to the service desk.

Continue Your Enrollment:

1 - Financial Aid

Explore options for Financial Aid including scholarships, loans, grants, and more.


To ensure you qualify for the most financial aid possible, you can start by submitting the FAFSA.

3 - Enrollment Deposit

Pay your $200 deposit to secure your spot at Northwestern!

4 - Housing & Commuting

Complete your housing application on theROCK to indicate your housing preferences or communicate your intent to commute.

5 - Pre-Registration Forms

Complete these important electronic forms to take another step towards becoming a UNW student.

6 - Eagle Advising Day & Registration

Starting in March, you can register for an Eagle Advising Day. This is a day set apart in which you and your parents will come to campus to register for classes and get more comfortable with Northwestern and the final steps of the enrollment process.

7 - Prepare

After you’ve attended an Eagle Advising Day and registered for courses, there are a few more steps for you to take such as purchasing textbooks and setting up your UNW email account on your phone.

8 - Orientation

Your first few days at Northwestern will be exciting and eventful! We've planned a wonderful experience for you and are excited to personally welcome you to our community.
