Amy Nelson is an alum of Northwestern's English Education Program. She taught middle school and high school language arts in the Twin Cities.
Her research interests include novice teachers' abilities to use assessment to improve student learning and how to help foster student resiliency in a virtual learning environment.
Dr. Nelson serves as the Communication Arts and Literature Education (CALE) Coordinator and Social Studies Education Coordinator and teaches courses in the School of Education and English departments. She enjoys mentoring student teaching candidates, volunteering with ELL students at local schools, and working with teachers in many school districts in the metro area.
