Daniel holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Illustration from the Rhode Island School of Design and a Master of Fine Arts in Interactive Design from the University of Minnesota College of Design.
Daniel works as a freelance artist, illustrator, designer and consultant. He offers a variety of services: illustration, graphic design, commissioned art, photography, Web design, animation, interactive design and videography/editing. Daniel is skilled in the use of traditional media—watercolor, acrylic, oil, gouache, color pencil, and ink—as well as digital applications including Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects, Premiere, and Dreamweaver. Clients have included Hilltopper Electric Bikes, Concordia Publishing, Augsburg Fortress (Parish Teacher magazine), Cabin Life and Cabin Living Magazines, the University of Minnesota College of Bio-Chemistry, Urban Ventures, People Responding In Social Ministry, the Banyan Community, First Evangelical Free Church, and numerous other churches, small businesses and individuals.
From 1990 to 2011, Daniel taught drawing, traditional illustration, computer illustration, interactive design, video editing, multimedia, web design, photography, and art history at Brown Institute/College. From 2011–2017 Daniel was an assistant professor of Multimedia in the Mass Communications department at St. Cloud State University. Currently, Daniel is an adjunct professor of art at Northwestern University, St. Paul (Minnesota), as well as the Media and Tech Director at First Evangelical Free Church, Minneapolis.
Originally from the east coast (Boston and New York), Daniel has lived in Minnesota since 1989. He is married to Julie Fergus and has two daughters—Rachel and Eliana.
