A performing guitarist for over thirty years, Jeff received a Master of Music in classical guitar from the University of Minnesota studying under maestro Jeffrey Van. Later, he took up jazz improvisation with David Singley while performing in several jazz fusion ensembles focusing on original music. As a guitarist, Jeff performs throughout the Twin Cities primarily as a jazz and classical solo artist and providing educational and enrichment programs.

Jeff has also performed on bass for over two decades. He studied double bass under Robert Anderson of the Minnesota Orchestra, Mark Kausch of Lyra Baroque Orchestra, and jazz legends Anthony Cox and Dennis Irwin. Notable performances include collaborations with TU Dance, Southern Theater's "Empire at Twilight" series, and in a joint concert with the Bakken Trio and his group, Sidewalk Café. He was featured in the Orchestra Hall premiere and recording of Jeremy Walker's 7 Psalms and with Consortium Carissimi's recent Alma Gentil. For over nine years he performed every weekend with JoAnn Funk’s “Jazz in the Lobby Bar” at the historic St. Paul Hotel. He has recorded several CD's with Sidewalk Cafe and JoAnn Funk and regularly performs with Orchestra Hall’s Atrium Jazz Trio.
