Prior to coming to Northwestern, Professor Printy was employed with several design and advertising firms in the upper Midwest, working up through the ranks from Typesetter to Art Director. He also served as a Visiting Lecturer at the University of Minnesota's College of Design and Bethel University in St. Paul, MN.
His award winning work ranges from business collateral and advertising to identity and installation design for organizations such as 3M, Health Partners, Youth Trust, University of Minnesota, and Education Minnesota.
He specializes in curriculum development, typography, and interactive design. Professor Printy also supervises the senior capstone component within the design sequence at Northwestern.
Professor Printy serves on the Education committee of Minnesota AIGA and has made scholarly and community presentations on: Creativity, Graphic Design sequence, and Human Computer Interface.
He has served as a soccer coach for teams from elementary school through junior high, collegiate, and men's adult teams. He is married and has two children.
