Kenny has pursued a developing call to Youth Ministry for over 35 years. The Lord has clarified this calling for both Kenny and his wife, Kirsten, as they’ve partnered in ministry at 3 different churches. Kenny has served on the Board of Directors at Camp Shamineau in Motley, MN, as Chaplain at Prairie Lakes Youth Programs in Willmar, MN and Jr. High Soccer Coach at Community Christian School in Willmar, MN. Kirsten (who holds a M.T.S. from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, Deerfield, IL) speaks to youth and adults at camps, conferences, churches and events, and is a podcast speaker.

Kenny currently serves as Pastor of Youth and Families at First Evangelical Free Church in Maplewood, MN. Kenny oversees Youth and Children's Ministry at the church. He has been an adjunct professor at Northwestern since fall of 2012, teaching courses in youth ministry as well as preaching.

Kenny and Kirsten met at UNW and have been married since 1986. Their home is in Saint Paul, MN in close proximity to their sons, daughter, their spouses and three grandchildren. All four of their children and one daughter-in-law graduated from Northwestern. Kenny’s interests include running, reading, eating at restaurants (esp. Italian), old cars, traveling, driving, water-skiing, snow-skiing, golf and fishing. His favorite thing to do is to hang out with Kirsten, his kids and grandkids!

Personal Mission Statement

Kenny’s life/ministry verse is Psalm 71:18 “Even when I am old and gray, do not forsake me, O God, till I declare your power to the next generation, your might to all who are to come.” He counts it a privilege to serve this generation of students pursuing the Lord’s leading into ministry.
