Kurt Borlaug joined Northwestern after more than thirty years at 3M assisting engineers on design, modification and process development. He holds a U.S. Utility Patent and owns his own business focused on special projects and prototyping. Kurt is passionate about bridging the gap between engineering designs and the shop floor where they can become reality. He teaches a course on Design and Manufacturing for the mechanical concentration students and supports student design projects in Introduction to Engineering through Senior Design.
Kurt is a graduate of the Remmele Engineering Machinist Apprenticeship. He brings more than four decades of machining experience to our engineering program. He has previously taught classes in Machine Shop Familiarization for 3M engineers through St. Paul College. In his spare time, Kurt and his wife like to travel and keep up with their children and grandchildren.
