Marquette Bateman-Ek teaches Art Methods for Elementary Teachers course and the Art Methods for Secondary Teachers course at the University of Northwestern - St. Paul. Additionally, Marquette has been teaching Visual Arts in Minnesota for 18 years and has been given the amazing opportunity to guide artists from Grade 1st through 12th. Currently she teaches Middle and High School Visual Arts at New Life Academy. She is at home in an art classroom, finding immense joy in seeing students pursue creativity, discover their artistic talents, and develop a strong appreciation for the arts. To strengthen the Visual Arts Department at New Life Academy, Marquette accomplished a personal and professional goal by obtaining her Masters in Art History, which has allowed AP Art History to be included in the academic curriculum. Marquette leads a strong department which has expanded from one to three full time art educators during her tenure. Marquette passionately believes that art is necessary in both our pursuit and praise of God.

Marquette Bateman-Ek holds Bachelor of Science degrees in both Social Work and Art Education from St. Cloud State University and a Masters in Art History from the University of St. Thomas.
