From beginning to intermediate to advanced, Robert is adept at teaching a diverse array of skill and age levels. From the smile the guitar beginner gets after finishing their 1st song to the joy the advanced pianist gets when they achieve their goal of playing Fur Elise, Robert is adept at preparing and implementing lesson plans to achieve the aspirations of each student. Endeavoring to meet each student where they are, he relates ideas and concepts in a compassionate way the fosters, growth, trust, and a fulfilling learning experience.
After graduating from USC in 2001, he worked as an Audio Editor/Sound Engineer in Los Angeles until 2004. From 2006-2009, he served as an adjunct guitar professor at Western New Mexico University. Upon his arrival to the Twin Cities in 2009, he started teaching at the Discovery Center in Maple Plain, St. Paul Guitar Studio and Linden Hills House of Music. Prior to this, his previous teaching experience was adults. Teaching kids was a new experience and proved to be a fulfilling calling. In 2013, he started to receive calls and referrals for in-home lessons. In September 2013, he went out on his own and started his own teaching business in the West Metro.
Robert has enjoyed performing in different groups over the years. While at USC, he was a member of a jam band that played throughout Los Angeles as well as California. Over the years, he has led and composed original compositions for 2 jazz/fusion trios. He also has performed as a sideman in the Minneapolis area with pianist Benny Weinbeck and bassist Gordy Johnson.
