Nursing has always been a lifelong passion for Sarah. From a young age, she was driven by the desire to help others, both physically and emotionally. She views nursing not just as a career but as a calling, a way to care for people on a holistic level. Now, as she transitions into the role of educator, Sarah hopes to guide and inspire future nurses to share in her passion for compassionate care and to approach their work with confidence, competence, and empathy.
Sarah says “I believe that as a educator, I must provide a sense of environment that is stimulating to students. Particularly for the nursing field, I believe it is a calling to be in a position to show compassion and care for others. I want students to grow intellectually, mentally, emotionally, and socially to get where they are called to in life. As educators, there is always the expectation of knowledge, but I want to extend that to the students as well, that they can provide and contribute to each other’s knowledge through their own experiences. I also believe that teaching is an extension of activating student background knowledge that they have already mastered. Teaching is a facilitation of problem solving and supporting students to utilize their strengths and grow from their weaknesses within this field. I believe that every day is an opportunity to learn something new whether it is great or small. As an educator, I also have high expectations for students, that they are respectful of each other, show dedication, confidence, perseverance, and be diligent in what they are tasked to do.”
Her favorite verse, Matthew 11:28-30, reflects her belief in the restorative power of faith and humility, reinforcing her approach to teaching and life.
Sarah resides with her husband, Samuel, and their four children: Lucas, Tabitha, Joel, and Noah, as well as their cat, Sho. In her free time, she enjoys reading fictional books.
