Dr. Ying W. Shen’s current job responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses of instructional media and technology and educational research, leading developmental assessment, designing curriculum for undergraduate and graduate courses, and supporting departmental and campus-wide faculty development in effective usage of technologies to enhance teaching and learning.

Prior to joining University of Northwestern–St. Paul, Dr. Shen worked as an Instructional Designer at Fayetteville State University, Adjunct Faculty at Indiana University Bloomington, and part-time faculty at the University of North Carolina Wilmington.

She taught courses of different topics including applications of instructional media and technology, integrating technology in teaching, technology leadership issues, media literacy, computer-based teaching methods, new media history and theory, Chinese, and English.

Dr. Shen’s research interests include application of innovative technologies in education, blended learning, assessment, and education in global and cross-cultural environments. She has presented her research at national and international professional conferences.
