To make an on-campus tutoring appointment, students can access the online scheduler on theROCK > Student Academics > Academic Achievement portal.
Dual Enrollment and Adult & Graduate Studies students may submit papers for review online on theROCK > Moodle > UNW Online Writing Lab.

Academic Achievement

Academic Achievement strives to equip all UNW students for academic success and lifelong learning through quality resources, services, and training.

  • The Writing Center – Testing facilitation as well as one-on-one sessions for help with paper content, structure, and editing.
  • Subject Tutoring – Group study sessions with trained subject tutors for a number of classes.
  • Academic Coaching – Skill-building and accountability services using strategies that include academic coaching and mentoring to support long-term success.
  • Supplemental Instruction – Weekly study sessions led by a trained student leader embedded in a class.
  • Academic Workshops – Interactive workshops offered at the beginning of each semester to offer strategies in reaching academic goals.
  • Disability Services – Accommodating students with documented needs associated with ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act).
  • Culture, Language, and Transition – Support services for transitioning students from within or outside the US related to language, background, and/or cross-cultural experiences.

Tutoring and Testing

The Writing Center supports the University of Northwestern community through a variety of student services including, but not limited to the following:

  • Writing & subject tutoring
  • Editing Competency Exam (ECE)
  • ECE & MTLE prep materials
  • Test facilitation for make-up examinations
  • Academic accommodations referred by Disability Services

From the north:
Follow I-35E South to Hwy. 36 West. Exit onto Snelling Ave North to the third stop light, Lydia Ave, and turn left.

From the south:
Follow I-35W North to Hwy 36 East. Exit onto Snelling Ave North to the third stop light, Lydia Ave, and turn left.

From the east:
Follow Hwy 36 West to Snelling Ave North. At the third stop light, Lydia Ave, turn left.

From the west/northwest:
Follow I-494/I-694 East to Snelling Ave and exit South. At the first stop light, Lydia Ave, turn right.

From the airport by car:
Follow I-494 west to I-35W north to Hwy 36 east. Exit on Snelling Ave north. Turn left at the third stoplight, Lydia Ave.

Parking

The nearest parking is the Lakefront Parking (Lot F).

Accessibility

This location is accessible to wheelchairs, and the wheelchair entrance is off of Naz Faculty/Staff (Lot G) Lot.
