Compete With Purpose.
Athletics at Northwestern extends the integration of faith and learning, encouraging student-athletes to maximize all of their God-given gifts. UNW’s 16 varsity programs compete with purpose, marked by both national recognition and their Christ-centered approach.
Our Mission
Athletics at Northwestern exists to enhance the mission of the university and honor Christ through a lifetime of competitive Christ-like attitudes, sportsmanship, speech, and actions. Daily devotions, prayer, as well as community outreach and missions trips also make up the uniqueness of athletics at our institution.
While every member of the athletic staff prepares their team to win, we will never compromise the mission of athletics at Northwestern. Plans, preparations, practices, and methods are designed to field competitive teams. However, winning is not the ultimate bench mark for our program. While we compete for earthly “prizes,” we focus on the prize given to us by Jesus Christ as seen in Philippians 3:14, “I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.”
