CONTACT INFORMATION
Prior to coming to Northwestern, Wendy Richards was an adjunct professor at her alma mater, Crown College, teaching children’s literature and art methods for the elementary education department.
Prior to those experiences, she taught elementary students in Monticello, Moorhead, and Bloomington, Minn., for a total of eight years. Richards has more than eighteen years of experience as an educator, and will complete her Ph.D. in literacy at the University of Minnesota in the upcoming year.
Her professional involvements at University of Northwestern have included teaching courses in elementary reading methods, language arts content and methods and children’s literature, supervising student teachers, coordinating the elementary portion of the Department of Education, working with America Reads tutors and cooperating schools and working with honors students with Pi Lambda Theta.
Richards is a member of the International Reading Association and the Minnesota Reading Association. This fall she will present on Children’s Literature at the Regional Association of Christian Schools International Conference.
Richards’ interests include studying Jamaican children’s literature, working with her husband as co-founder of The Organization for Strategic Development in Jamaica, and hosting an annual fully accredited, international medical conference in Jamaica.
She also spends time playing flute and singing with her family.
